Michelle Finnigan, BSc Ost Med, N.D.
Registered Osteopath
and Naturopath
Michelle Finnigan is a registered osteopath and naturopath.
She has over 9 years experience in the health industry, working
first as a massage therapist and then as an Osteopath. She
graduated in 2007 from the British College of Osteopathic
Medicine with a First Class Honours Degree in Osteopathic
Medicine, and diplomas in Osteopathy and Naturopathy.
Michelle was a keen sports woman in her youth, participating in
tennis, hockey, squash and sailing, as well as being a keen
runner and this formed the basis for her first interest
in sports rehabilitation. After having her own child in
2008, Michelle has now also taken an interest in treating
pregnant and post-natal women. Michelle has experience in
treating a wide range of patients, ranging from pregnant
and post-natal women, to office workers, healthcare professionals
and sports people.
Michelle's approach to Osteopathy is a holistic one, and
each patient is treated as an individual. The main goal
of treatment is to ascertain the underlying cause of the
problem and not just the symptoms. Treatment techniques
will vary according to each patient presentation. Commonly
used treatment modalities include soft tissue therapy, deep
tissue and neuromuscular massage, joint mobilization and
manipulation. Michelle also practices visceral osteopathy.
Patient education is key to long-term health and vitality;
therefore, advice will be given on self-help treatments
such as hydrotherapy, exercise, dietary and lifestyle changes.
Each year, Michelle attends post graduate
courses to further her clinical knowledge. Michelle
also regularly meets up with fellow alternative health
care practitioners to keep up to date with developments
in other fields, and will refer her patients onto
these colleagues where necessary.
