Alongside her practice she is the new nutrition presenter on the Channel 5 TV programme The Diet Doctors. Diet Doctors looks at the way that nutrition and exercise can have a significant impact on medical conditions, as there is an increased awareness that the ability to make and sustain changes in diet is central to good long-term health.
Pam firmly believes that dietary changes need to be tailored to the individual, taking into consideration taste preferences and other factors that may influence food choices. Moreover those changes need to be realistic and achievable. Relevant assessment may include consideration of biochemical deficiencies, BMI, waist measurement, energy needs, medical history, past diet history, willingness, readiness and barriers to change, and assessment of current diet and levels of activity. Pam appreciates the difficulties that people have in managing their weight and/or medical conditions and tries to forge a helping relationship with patients, looking at the options together in a collaborative manner.
